Change Housing

Aktualisiert: 31. Juli 2019

It is not his first time in Germany at Meeting of Styles, and hopefully not his last time! SEF is an internationally recognized Graffiti artist from Peru. And here in Mainz-Kastel, we just love him! His craft is astonishing: bringing kid's faces from a small photograph to a huge exterior wall, always with a lot of attention to their facial expression, Sef understands perfectly how to illuminate any grey facade.

Verily the lust for comfort murders the passion of the soul, and then walks grinning in the funeral.
But you, children of space, you restless in rest, you shall not be trapped nor tamed.
Your house shall be not an anchor but a mast.
(Khalil Gibran, On Houses, from The Prophet)

Let's get to know this friendly latin artist in a quick watch:

The girl that Sef left behind with us on the wall of this house in Mainz-Kastel is a daughter to his friend at home in Peru. She symbolizes childhood in a poor environment - with not much to be held in her hands yet - but a light promising her a bright future.

And though of magnificence and splendour, your house shall not hold your secret nor shelter your longing.
For that which is boundless in you abides in the mansion of the sky, whose door is the morning mist, and whose windows are the songs and the silences of night.
(Khalil Gibran, On Houses, from The Prophet)

We are more than grateful to have been witnessing the process of change on this wall!
